Former Basketball Star Derek Hood Received A Massive Arkansas Honor And Recognition For His Career


Big Recognition In Arkansas:

2015 was a big year for the Arkansas Sports Hall of Fame as nine inductees went into the honored institution. These nine are all Arkansas sports legends in their own right and represent sports ranging from football and baseball to track and field and basketball. Representing the sport of basketball was none other than former Arkansas Razorbacks star and former pro player in the NBA among many other leagues around the world - Derek Hood. Derek is joined by other Arkansas sporting legends such as Steve Korte and Lynn Garner as well as Robin Ford and Deedee Brown-Campbell. Derek Hood was absolutely honored to have his sports accomplishments celebrated by this hallowed Arkansas institution.

The Journey To The Pros:

Derek Hood was born back in 1976 in the town of Decatur, Illinois but later moved to the Missouri city of Kansas City where he was a standout on the basketball team at Central High School. His outstanding high school run in basketball led him to be recruited to play for powerhouse NCAA basketball program the University of Arkansas.

A Long And International Journey:

D Hood played four exciting seasons with the Razorbacks squad before moving on to the National Basketball Association during the exciting 1999-2000 season. Derek also had numerous other stops around the United States and the world on his continuing basketball career. These stops included a tenure with the Quad City Thunder based out of the Illinois Quad Cities. This team was a member of the CBA. Derek also played for teams such as the Snaidero Udine and the Yakima Sun Kings before coming back to the United States to play for a time on the Kansas City Knights of ABA affiliation and also the Revelers of Mobile. He concluded his long an impressive pro basketball career in France with the team known as ASVEL Villeurbanne. 2015 then saw Derek Hood recognized for his time at the Univesity of Arkansas and his overall long and successful basketball career in numerous professional leagues around the world.
