Who is Derek Hood


Derek Hood is an American former basketballer who played as a small forward/power forward. Derek was born on 22nd December 1976, in Kansas City, Missouri, United States. Hood weight is 222 pounds and a height of 6-8/2.03 meters.

Early playing career

In his high school days, Derek Hood played basketball for the Central High School, Kansas City, Missouri where he twice won Parade All-American Second Team Award (1994, 1995). During the years 1995-1999; Derek Hood played basketball in College with Arkansas Razorbacks Men's Basketball team.

Professional career

Derek Hood started his professional basketball career in the year 1999.


Derek hood went undrafted for the National Basketball Association Draft in the year 1999 making him an Unrestricted FA. He signed his first professional career with Charlotte Hornet the same year where he played two games. Later on the same year, Charlotte Hornet placed a waiver on him, and he became a free agent.

In the year 2000, D Hood signed for Philadelphia Sixers who placed a waiver on him the same year, and he became a free agent. He signed a contract for Phoenix sun the following year and was released the same year.

During the 2002 season, Derek Hood signed a contract with Dallas Maverick who later released him the same year. Dallas Maverick resigned him in the year 2004 and as in early cases placed him under the waiver, and he became a free agent.

Clubs Career

Hood has played professional basketball for clubs in United State, China, and Italy. He played for Charlotte Hornets (1999), Quad City Thunder(1999-2000), Kansas City Knights(2000-2001), The Snaidero Udine (2001), the Mobile Revelers(2001-2003) and The Toros De Aragua(2003).

Derek Hood finally retired from playing professional basketball in the year 2005.
